  4. You can see a sorted listing of all the filenotes in the current 
  5. directory (at the time you activated FN) by <V>iewing the FILENOTE file.  
  6. That way, when you find yourself looking for a certain file but can't 
  7. remember it's name, you can glance thru the filenotes and see if anything 
  8. rings a bell. 
  9.                       
  10. If you've deleted a lot of files and you'd like a cleaned up directory 
  11. listing, use <D>riveChg to "change" the disk drive to the drive you're 
  12. currently using.  Of course, if you don't mind staring at all those 
  13. zeros, you can just re-<S>ort the listing.

  15. Using PC-Directory for making backups is a breeze.  Sort the directory 
  16. listing by date.  Hi-lite the first file with the same date as the date 
  17. of the last backup.  Hold down the <T>ag key until all the files 
  18. following that file are tagged.  Then move to your backup disk using 
  19. <D>riveChg.  Press <C>opy to initiate the copy process.  One easy way to 
  20. keep track of when the last backup was made is to leave yourself a note 
  21. in the notebox for FILENOTE.

  23. Keeping File Notes on your files is something you probably haven't done 
  24. before.  Force yourself into the habit.  We've all forgotten what's in a 
  25. file.  While using <V>iew can often help figure things out, it's not very 
  26. helpful with binary files.  Besides, a simple reminder in the notebox is 
  27. easier.  You'll be pleased at the time, effort, and frustration you'll 
  28. save by using the File Notes.
